Why did Hitler hate the Jews?

Answer

Hitler hated Jews because he believed they were an inferior race that conspired to hinder the German people. He believed that Jews were the originators of American Capitalism and of Communism, movements he considered contrary to the order he wished to establish. Furthermore, Hitler felt that the Jews living in Germany had betrayed the country during World War I.

Unlike previous forms of antisemitism, which were religiously motivated, Hitler's hatred of Jews sprung from a distorted view of social Darwinism. According to The Holocaust Explained, Hitler's vision for the Third Reich rested on his belief that the German people were biologically superior to other races and destined to inherit the earth. He thought that in order for Germans to live prosperously and comfortably, they had to eliminate the inferior races that "contaminated" society, including Jews.

Hitler also believed that Germany needed a strong, nationalist, totalitarian government to succeed. He disdained the finance capitalism exemplified by the United States and the communism of the Bolsheviks in Russia. Hitler held a firm conviction that both of these movements were products of a worldwide Jewish conspiracy designed to debilitate the great peoples of the West. For Hitler, this same Jewish conspiracy betrayed Germany during the First World War in order to hinder the progress of the Third Reich.
