Answer

A potluck is a gathering in which people come together in a public area to eat together. During a potluck each person brings a pot of something to eat. Because each person is responsible for bringing something, the gathering was called a potluck. It was called a potluck because the attendees will look in each pot and take their luck with what was inside. Potlucks are popular ways to spend holidays, as well as work parties because it doesnâ€â&dbquo;¢t put too much pressure on any one person.
