Henry IV wasa Huguenot when he inherited the throne. It was in 1572, upon the death of his mother that he inherited the throne of Navarre. He reigned as king of Navarre from June of 1572 till May of 1610. He had a coronation ceremony in February of 1594 and descended the throne as king of France. He reigned as the king of France until May of 1610. Though raised as a Protestant by his mother, Jeanne d'Albret, Queen of Navarre, Henry joined the Huguenot forces in the French Wars of Religion.
