A Psalm of Life is a poem that was written by writer Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The poem was first published in The Knickerbocker and Longfellow was promised $5 for the use of his poem. He was never paid the money that he was owed. In 1836, Henry Longfellow wrote a follow up to A Psalm of Life which he titled The Light of Stars, but this work is often called it A Second Psalm of Life. Many of Longfellow's poems were published in 1839 in Voices of the Night.
