What are the advantages and disadvantages of welfare?

Answer

In theory, the advantages of a welfare state are that everyone is taken care of. This is a plus as some people are not capable of providing for their own support. In theory, the disadvantages of a welfare state are that people become dependent on the government to provide for their needs when they could instead be out trying to meet or exceed their own needs.
