Why Is Alchemy the Root of Chemistry?

Answer

Alchemy is the root of modern chemistry. This is because alchemists were the first to study the elements and to break materials down to their purer components. They began to understand molecules and how elements interacted and how to break them apart. Since they thought that gold was the purest element they sought to make it and find out how to make the most basic element. Their understanding lead to modern chemistry.
