# AMU to Grams?

An AMU is an atomic mass unit. One atomic mass unit is equal to 1.66053886 multiplied by 10-24 grams. Both the atomic mass unit and the gram are measures of mass. One AMU is defined as being 1/12th of the mass of a C-12 atom. One chromium atom is equivalent to 52.0 AMU. To convert it, you would divide the 52g by the avagadros number which is 6.023*10^23. This would work out to be 8.63480209 × 10^-23 grams per chromium.
