The Arawaks were a group of ethnic minority people who were native to the West Indies. When Christopher Columbus arrived in America it was the Arawak people whom he first encountered. The type of foods that the Arawaks ate were lizards and birds. They also kept a domesticated breed of dog which they sometimes also used as food.
