Pinworms parasites rarely cause serious health problems and are usually not dangerous. These parasites are about the length of a staple and they live in the rectum. Pinworms get inside the body when you swallow their eggs. When you are a sleep at night, the female pinworms are most active and crawl through the anus and deposit eggs on nearby skin. This can cause intense anal itching which worsens at night.
