1 Additional Answer
Ask.com, formerly known as Ask Jeeves, is an answer engine founded in 1996 by Garrett Gruener and David Warthen. 'Jeeves,' Ask's former mascot, was based on Bertie Wooster's valet Jeeves in the stories of P.G. Wodehouse. Early users remember him as the affable butler who retrieved answers to their questions with style. Jeeves was phased out from use at Ask beginning in 2005, though he still appears prominently on Ask's UK site, Ask.com UK. Since the departure of Jeeves, we at Ask have continued to focus on our mission of providing quality answers that empower our users. We believe that the best way to achieve this is to provide our users with a service that responds to curiosity with the warmth and intelligence of your most knowledgeable friend.
