According to the online website Surfers Village, the biggest wave ever to be recorded was a splash wave that clocked in at a whopping 1,740 ft tall. The monstrous, record breaking wave occurred back in the year 1958. It is said to have been a result of a powerful earthquake which broke 40 million cubic yards of dirt and frozen glacier free. The wave was located on Lituya Bay on the southern coast of Alaska.
