Brief History of Physical Education?

Physical education began around 1820 when schools mainly focused on gymnastics, sanitation training and care and growth of the human body. By the year 1950, more than 400 institutes had established majors in physical education. The Young Men's Christian Association established its original first chapter in 1851 and mainly focused on physical activities. Colleges were motivated to concentrate on intramural sports chiefly track, field and football.
