The Bronze Star medal is a medal that is given as an award in the United States Armed Forces. This military award is given to soldiers who have done something great. Some reasons that the bronze star may me awarded to someone include honorable service during combat, and an act of merit or heroism. When awarded for an act of heroism, this is one of the highest honors, and the medal is accompanied by the 'V' device. This award is the tenth highest award given out in the United States Military. There have been almost 2000 soldiers awarded with the Bronze Star.
