Can a Company Secretary Also Be a Director?

Answer

Whether a company director can also act as the company secretary has been addressed by the law, as from April 2008, it is not necessary for UK companies to have company secretaries. From October 2009, a single person can now occupy the positions of director, secretary and shareholder. So today, a sole proprietor can be both the director and shareholder, which are both mandatory positions, as well as being the company secretary if they wish.
