A person can use flour instead of Cornstarch but it will take longer to cook the food. The flour also does mix efficiently with water.

use all purpose or whole wheat flour, you can mix some corn meal in if you want. 1pt corn meal/3pts flour. (or just go to the store and buy what you needed to start with!)
