Can You Get Stitches Wet?

Answer

It is advised that stitches are kept dry within the first 24 hours. There is debate as to whether or not it is good practice to get stitches wet with a majority of health practitioners leaning towards keeping them dry although after 48 hours, surgical wounds can get wet without increasing the risk of infection.
