You can move a refrigerator while it is resting on its side though if it is in this position for long, the oil in the compressor might start leaking. This might damage the compressor and the refrigerator might not cool properly.

Yes actually you can move a refrigerator laying down, even on it's side. However, it is really important that you do not plug it in until 24 hours has passed from the time you stood it back upright.
