# Characteristics of Normal Distribution?

The characteristics of normal distribution are used by statisticians to determine distribution of random variables. The pattern contains a bell-shaped or mound curve and is a continuous random variable. The upper portion of the diagram which contains the bell curve, extends into infinity, never meeting the horizontal axis. The mean is always symmetrical and 68% of the data is contained within one standard deviation of the mean, while 95% is within two standard deviations, and 99.7 is within three. Then entire amount under the curve is equivalent to one.
