What are the advantages and disadvantages of living in a city?

Answer

There are several advantages and disadvantages of living in a city, but one of the most notable advantages is a shorter commute. Many companies have offices in cities rather than suburbs or rural settings, so living in a city reduces the amount of time it takes for an employee to get to work and back again.

Cities tend to have an abundance of activities and cultural institutions. New York City, for example, is home to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Museum of Modern Art, just to name a few.

People who live in cities often have access to a wide variety of restaurants and stores. Restaurants tend to stay open later, and they serve traditional fare along with cuisine that is not usually found in rural or suburban locations.

The drawbacks of living in a city include high noise levels, traffic, pollution and a higher cost of living.
