The designer brand Coach, Inc. is a luxury leather good company. The American company was founded in 1941. It was called Gail Leather Products at that time and got started in a loft on 34th Street in New York City. They handmade small leather goods, such as billfolds and wallets. The company grew and became Coach Leatherware. It was eventually sold to Sara Lee and became Coach, Inc. The company has grown to be a worldwide known brand. They do not (nor have they ever) make baby carriages. In the early 1900s, some baby carriages were referred to as coaches.
