If... is a poem that was written by Novel laureate Rudyard Kipling in 1895. The poem was first published in Kipling's 1910 collection of short stories and poems titled Rewards and Fairies. The poem has been printed, framed, and placed on the wall of the National Defence Academy at Pune, India. Even though this is one of Kipling's most famous poems, it is not usually the subject of critical analysis, however the author Rudyard Kipling is.
