What is the 'cultural transmission theory?

Answer

The cultural transmission theory of deviance states that association with deviants promotes deviance. This basically means that, generally people follow basic rules or norms but if the same people are placed in a society that does not follow these rules, they evolve and they themselves become deviant. The theory was advanced in order to try and explain deviant behaviour in society.
