Danger of Ketosis?

Answer

The dangers of ketosis or a low carbohydrate diet are lowering the carbohydrate intake causing the body to build more ketones in the blood and the body is prompted to burn stored fat as energy instead of carbs. The dangers associated with this starving of carbohydrates are varied. Since a low carb diet limits fiber rich foods which aid in digestion, different degrees of constipation may occur causing gas, bloating and difficulty passing stool. This can cause other digestive problems and risk of high cholesterol leading to stroke and heart disease. It is very important to consult a physician prior to going on a ketosis diet.
