The definition of gram formula mass is a mathematical formula used to determine the weight of an ionic compound translated from atomic masses in to grams. Chemicals consist of ions, atoms, and molecules and are counted in clusters called moles. If one tried to count all the atoms with a super computer, it would still take 2 billion years to calculate.
