Describe the Reign of Terror and Who It Impacted?

The reign of terror was a phase in the French revolution when approximately forty thousand people died in the name of the rebellion. During this period, people from all classes, most of them not guilty, lost their heads to the guillotine. Marie Antoinette went first in October of 1793, and Robespierre's death through the guillotine paradoxically marked the conclusion of the Terror when he was seen as a danger to the very people he wanted to kill, in July of 1794. The Reign of Terror also unlocked the door for fresh leadership, and Napoleon Bonaparte was the one who walked through it.
