Difference between Hereditary and Genetic?

Although some people think they are one in the same, there is a difference between hereditary and genetic. Hereditary traits are physical ones handed down from one generation to the next, such as hair and eye color. on the other hand, a gene that is handed down only gives the possibility of getting a trait. Other things such as how the gene communicates with other genes and the environment play a part in rather one develops a trait from a gene.
