Difference between Humulin N and Humulin R?


Humulin N and Humulin R are both insulins. However, the two are different with regards to its reaction time. Humulin R is short-acting while Humulin N is intermediate acting insulin. Humulin R works after 30 minutes when it was injected and peaks after 2-3 hours and lasts for 5-7 hours. On the other hand, Humulin N starts effecting at about 1-2 hours lasting about 16-24 hours.
