Difference between Informal and Formal Education?

Answer

One difference between formal and informal education is the setting. Formal education is classroom-based. The students would usually be around the same age, and teaching is provided by a trained professional. Teachers have to meet educational standards and stick to a specified curriculum. There is no prescribed form for informal education. Informal education can take place in various settings. Also in informal education, the participants have more control over the content. Two examples of informal education includes after-school groups and homeschooling.
