Difference between Landscape and Portrait?

Answer

Landscape and portrait were originally terms for paintings. Landscapes were pictures of the out-of-doors, and were wider than they were high; portraits are pictured of people and are usually taller than they are wide. So paper displayed in landscape position, is wider than it is high, and portrait is higher than it is wide.
