Ones penmanship or handwriting written in a beautiful way is considered calligraphy.There are 4 different types of calligraphy taught in the world today, they are; Western Calligraphy, Eastern Asian Calligraphy, Southern Asian Calligraphy, and Islamic Calligraphy. The different types were based off of the time period, location and the tools that were used to perform the calligraphy. Calligraphy was widely popular and used right up until the 1th Century, at which point the printing press came along and started a whole new era of writing.
