When was the Epiphone Flying V electric guitar first produced?

The first Epiphone Flying V was introduced in 1983 but it was short lived. It would return again as a mainstay model in 1986 when Henry Juszkiewicz, David Berryman and Gary Zebrowski acquired the Epiphone and Gibson companies.
