Examples of Pragmatism?

Answer

Pragmatism is a philosophical tradition that is centered on the linking of practice and theory. Examples of pragmatism include King John of England signing the Magna Carta. He may not have wanted to sign it because it took away a lot of his ruling rights, however, as a pragmatist he signed it so that his head would not be chopped off by a sword-wielding Baron. Another example of pragmatism was Harry Truman's firing of General McArthur. While the general was an excellent military strategist, and a popular figure in the USA, the pragmatic thing to do was to fire him so that the Korean Conflct would not be expanded.
