Examples of Realism?

Answer

Realism is accepting a situation as it is, and being prepared to deal with that situation as it appears. Examples of realism in art include the works of painters Thomas Eakens, Edouard Manet, John William Waterhouse, Gustave Courbet, Arthur Hughes, and Winslow Homer. Examples of realism in literature include Dicken's Oliver Twist; Karl Marx's works; the works of Freidrich Engels, who coauthored the Communist Manifesto with Marx; and Stephen Crane's 'The Red Badge of Courage among others. Realism does not paint a pretty picture for its' readers or viewers; it tells it like it is, even if that is disturbing to view or read.
