Explain Dehydration Synthesis and Hydrolysis?

Dehydration is the removal/taking out of water from a substance and synthesis is the process of adding/building up of basic units to make a molecule. Therefore dehydration synthesis is the removal of water in order to build a bond/form a molecule. Hydrolysis is the opposite because it is the addition of water in order to break down a molecule. To explain dehydration synthesis and hydrolysis, we must understand that they are opposite reactions.
