Anne Sullivan was the teacher of Helen Keller, while Maria Montessori is best known for her theory that children learn best when they teach themselves. William McGuffey invented the idea of using textbooks in the classroom. Emma Willard is responsible for opening the gates for women to enter the realm of higher education. Though there are many more examples of famous teachers, these are a few of the teachers who altered the entire course of education.
