Under a feudal system in Chinese history, nobles also known as Gong owned the farmland and had peasants to work for them. These workers paid the nobles for the use of the land and the nobles paid part of that to the king. Chinese history, periods from the Zhou Dynasty to the Qin Dynasty was described as the 'feudal period'.
