Many people are not familiar with the term fistulogram. A fistulogram is a medical procedure that involves examination of a fistula by means of x-ray. Typically, before the x-ray is taken, a contrast medium is first inserted into to the body through the external opening of the fistula. In most cases, the contrast medium includes iodine. A fistulogram will tell the treating physician the details of the length, shape, and direction of a patient's fistula.
