Who are the Gabor sisters?

The Gabor sisters are Zsa Zsa, Eva and Magda, socialites and actresses who, with their mother, emigrated to California from Budapest, Hungary. Zsa Zsa is the only surviving sister. Eva died in 1995, at age 74. Magda died in 1977, at age 78.

Magda Gabor was the eldest of the three sisters. Although she was widely considered to be the most talented, Magda had the shortest entertainment career. The Los Angeles Times notes that she had a brief stint as a radio actress, and she was the driving force behind the sisters' Las Vegas act. Later, Magda and her mother, Jolie, operated a chain of jewelry stores.

Zsa Zsa is the middle sister. Even those who've not seen her work may well know her as the flamboyant socialite with a tumultuous, highly publicized personal life and a propensity to call people "dahling." She started her career at 16, as a singer, and by age 19 had been crowned Miss Hungary. Following her arrival in the U.S., Zsa Zsa had a successful film and television career that spanned some 40 years.

Eva was the youngest Gabor sister. Like Zsa Zsa, she began her career as a singer in Hungary before emigrating to the U.S. According to The New York Times, her critically acclaimed Broadway performance in a 1950 production opened the doors to a successful TV career. Her most famous role was Lisa Douglas on "Green Acres," a fish-out-of-water sitcom about a socialite living the life of a farmer's wife.
