George Vanderbilt, born as George Washington Vanderbilt II, died due to a complicated appendectomy in Washington, D.C. His body was interred in the mausoleum of the Vanderbilt family. He died on March 6, 1914 and was laid to rest at New Dorp, Staten Island, New York Moravian Cemetery.
