How do you find your passport number?

Answer

The passport number is a nine-digit number printed in the top right corner of the first page of a passport. This number also appears on the wallet-sized card that is often included with passport documents. A person who does not have such a card can obtain one by mailing a notarized request for a copy of his passport record to the Department of State Passport Services in Washington, D.C.

The passport number is printed in black ink directly below the label "Passport No./No. Du Passeport." In the United States, this number is just one of the security features imprinted on every citizen's passport. Each passport number is stored in a special U.S. Department of State database and is linked to the name of the person to whom that passport was issued .
