How Did Eva Cassidy Die?

In the year 1993, Eva Cassidy, a vocalist known for her interpretations of blues, country, folk, gospel, jazz, and pop classics, had a malignant mole removed from her back. Three years later, she noticed an ache in her hips. The pain persisted and a few weeks later, X-rays revealed the melanoma had spread to her lungs and bones. Cassidy opted for aggressive treatment, as her doctors estimated 3 to 5 months to live, but her health deteriorated rapidly. Her final performance at the Bayou, in September 1996, she closed the set with What a Wonderful World. She was subsequently admitted to Johns Hopkins Hospital and died at her family home in Bowie, on the 2nd of November, 1996, at the age of 33.
