Jim Henson was a filmmaker, screenwriter and inventor. He is most famous for being a puppeteer, developing and introducing the world to the Muppets in 1976. The Muppets are extremely popular and have starred in their own television shows and movies. Henson founded the Jim Henson Company in 1958. Before inventing the Muppets, Henson worked on the popular children's show "Sesame Street." Big Bird appeared at Henson's funeral to sing and pay his respects to Henson's iconic puppet character, Kermit the Frog.
