The enlightment led to the itellectual movement that spread from Europe to the Americans influenced the thinking of many leader of the American revolution and gave a foundation for many of the laws and core beliefs that are enjoyed by many people in the US today. Some of the enlightments are; people can find happiness in this life, peoples liberty should be protected by the law among others.
