You can use the Canon vixia HD 30 camera as a Web Cam by turning on the camera. In the menu section you can choose to use it as a Web Cam. You must connect the camera to your computer.

Most compact cameras can't be set up as a webcam (there were a few pentax's and HP's a few yrs ago, but none currently on the market. Get an actual webcam
