Making a vanilla steamer is fairly simple. The recipes and proportions of ingredients vary, but in general, you start by heating sugar and milk. Don't let the milk boil, but get it very hot so the sugar dissolves. Take the mixture off of the heat and pop in the vanilla. Some people like to add a bit of honey, as well. Let the steamer sit for a moment and then transfer it to a cup. Top it with foamed milk or whipped cream. In the commercial versions, companies often use a syrup base that is added to the milk.
