# How Do You Measure Gear Pitch?

When you measure gear pitch it must be a whole number. If the answer is not, you should round up. Gear pitch involves the number of teeth in relation to the gear's size. If you want to measure gear pitch you will need a tape measure. You are going to measure the gear, when you do this, do not measure the teeth. Whatever the radius is should be multiplied by 2.
