How Long Can You Live with Leukemia?

The length of time that you can survie with leukemia depends on the type of leukemia you have. There are two types of leukemia known as chronic leukemia and acute leukemia. Acute leukemia must be treated immediately with radiation, chemotherapy, or a combination of both treatments. Acute leukemia can often be cured with aggressive treatment. Chronic leukemia may or may not require immediate treatment, but probably will not be cured with chemotherapy alone. Both acute leukemia and chronic leukemia can be treated for several years as necessary.
