How many "Ice Age" movies are there?

As of 2014, there are four full-length "Ice Age" movies: "Ice Age" (2002), "Ice Age: The Meltdown" (2006), "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" (2009) and "Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012)." 20th Century Fox has scheduled a fifth movie in the franchise to be released on July 15, 2016.

The Ice Age movies involve the prehistoric adventures of a mammoth named Manny, a sloth named Sid and a saber-toothed tiger named Diego. Later movies introduced Ellie, a female mammoth who falls in love with Manny, and their daughter Peaches.

Each movie also features a humorous secondary plot involving Scrat, an acorn-obsessed squirrel-like creature who is also in the "Ice Age" short films "Gone Nutty," "No Time for Nuts," "Scrat's Continental Crack-up" and "Surviving Sid."
