Dwight D. Eisenhower, the 34th president of the United States, had two sons with his wife Mamie. His oldest son died while still a toddler, according to the website for the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library, Museum and Boyhood Home.

Dowd Dwight Eisenhower was only 3 years old when he died of scarlet fever in 1921. The next year, his brother John Sheldon Dowd Eisenhower was born. John, like his father, served in the U.S. Army, retiring as a brigadier general. He and his wife had four children, most notably writer David Eisenhower, who married President Nixon's daughter Julie. John Eisenhower later served as the U.S. Ambassador to Belgium and wrote a number of military history books. He died in 2013.
