At least several hundreds of thousands of soldiers have served in Iraq since the beginning of the war in 2003. There has been a wide range of reported casualties, most of which occurred between March 2003 and the middle of 2006. Some sources say that as few as 110,000 violent deaths have occurred, while other sources report as many as 1,033,000 deaths. The death counts include those of soldiers and innocent or violent Iraqi civilians.
